Design & Animation

This animation explores the relationship between light and the eye. Sight is one of the primary senses a graphic designer uses, yet staring at a screen can really impact eye health. I associate my vision and nystagmus with my identity as they directly influence my approach to design.

Approach
A rough-cut was composed in grayscale. Each frame explores the relationship between symmetry and asymmetry, focus and blur, and light and dark. The quick but thoughtful transitions build tension and encourage viewers to rewatch.
Refinement
Color was applied to the animation using a curves effect. This allowed gradients to form seamlessly and for elements to fade in and out with anticipation through color.  Cooler hues like purple and blue are more present near darker values while bright greens and yellows are focused near lighter ones. Grain and echo were applied to incorporate imperfection and support the visual system.
